Dr. Abercrombie grew up in Macon, GA, and lived in Atlanta for twenty years before moving to Tampa in 2012. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering in 1995 from Georgia Tech. After graduation, she was a software engineer for Delta Airlines but quickly tired of a work week composed of all computer screens and no human interaction. She had an interest in the medical field inspired by her father, an MD and an oncologist, but she didn’t want to go into human medicine—so she decided to attend veterinary school. Dr. Abercrombie earned her DVM degree from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004, and now can’t imagine doing anything else!
Dr. Abercrombie loves educating others and enjoys teaching and mentoring team members and new vets, as well as educating pet owners and empowering them to make informed decisions about their pet’s care. She has a particular interest in surgery and treating hypothyroid dogs and gets immense satisfaction out of a definitive diagnosis and a successful treatment.
Dr. Abercrombie’s family includes her husband, Bill, and their two children, Sara Beth and William. They’re an active family who love sports and traveling. Fur family members include dogs Walter and Meg and cats Graham, Luna, and Flynn. In her free time, Dr. Abercrombie likes spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys reading, exercising, riding her bike, and going to the beach—you’ll likely find her and her pups going for a walk along Bayshore Boulevard.
